Call for Dossier: "Mathematics Education Laboratories in (Non-)Higher Education Institutions and the Construction of a New Mathematical Culture"
The Revista Baiana de Educação Matemática is pleased to announce the call for articles and experience reports for the thematic dossier entitled "Mathematics Education Laboratories in (Non-)Higher Education Institutions and the Construction of a New Mathematical Culture."
Mathematics Education Laboratories (MEL) have been consolidating as fundamental structures for better articulation between teacher education, research, pedagogical innovation, and community outreach, significantly contributing to the construction of a new mathematical culture.
This dossier aims to explore multiple facets of MEL, including contributions to the initial and continuing education of teachers and its impact on pedagogical practices and, consequently, on student learning.
In this context, we invite researchers, educators, and other professionals in the field of mathematics education to submit manuscripts that address the following topics:
- Creation and development of MEL in (non-)higher education institutions;
- Articulation between research and education in MEL;
- University outreach - interaction of MEL with the community;
- MEL in the initial education of future mathematics teachers;
- Continuing and postgraduate education developed in MEL;
- MEL in the learning of mathematics at the non-higher education level;
- Challenges and future perspectives for MEL.
Interested parties should submit their articles through the journal's online submission system by December 30, 2024. The publication flow will be continuous, meaning that as articles and experience reports are accepted, they will be immediately published. The dossier’s conclusion, including the editorial, is expected in the first semester of 2025.
For more details on the submission process, formatting guidelines, and other relevant information, visit the Revista Baiana de Educação Matemática website [https://www.revistas.uneb.br/index.php/baeducmatematica/index] or contact the editorial committee via email at ajnunes@uneb.br.
We look forward to receiving contributions that enrich the discussion on MEL, expanding the understanding of their potential and challenges.
