Adherence to Physical Education (PE) classes depends on motivational, social and health factors. The more students participate in PE classes, the higher the level of physical activity and, consequently, the better their health. To this end, the objective is to analyze the adherence of elementary school students in a public school in the classes taught about physical activity and health content related to cooperative games and calisthenics. This experience report refers to the classes taught by a PE trainee in a first year elementary school class at a public school located in the municipality of Jequié-BA in 2019. A weekly class was taught with the contents of calisthenic gymnastics and cooperative games based on expository-dialog strategies and health-related practices. Students who remained in all stages of the class until the end were considered with adherence. Among the 25 students enrolled in the class, 21 joined the classes. Although there is no PE teacher at the school, the class teacher contributed to all the internship activities and planning. Cooperative, structured and diversified classes with a proposal for extra activities promoted greater adherence. It was concluded that there was adherence by students in PE classes, despite the challenges for their students to achieve this result. Cooperative, structured and diverse classes were useful to maintain student participation. The multidisciplinary work between PE and other school subjects enhances the learning of specific content in a playful and contextualized way.
