This article reflects on the denial of generational difference - as proposed by Dufour - in the contemporary challenges of education and some of its effects, taking into account the constitution of subjectivity, from a theoretical perspective that interrelates psychoanalysis and education. It is the result of a bibliographic research that addresses contemporary discourses on education. The text takes up a psychoanalytic perspective on the position of adults in education, elaborating its route through the investigation of how changes have occurred based on contemporary discourses, which respond to whether adults (still) want to educate. At the end, some questions are raised that arise from the considerations and reflections made throughout the text, guided by the question of the title from the perspective adopted.
