HERMENEUTICS AS A METHODOLOGICAL RESEARCH RESOURCE IN THE HISTORY OF EDUCATION
Keywords:
Hermeneutics, Method, History of EducationAbstract
The present work has as general objective to discuss aspects of hermeneutics as a methodological resource for research in education and it has as specific objectives: a) to presente the evolution of the hermeneutic method synthetically; b) to present hermeneutics as a tool for research in the History of Education and / or in the History of pedagogical ideas; and c) to provide a possible tool for the use of hermeneutics as a research method. For this, we are going to use as study resources the bibliographic research and the elements of comparative documentary research with special attention to the works of Gadamer, The Problem of Historical Consciousness (2006) and Truth and Method (1997), as primary sources, and the book Hermeneutics (1999) written by Richard Palmer and the article Hermeneutics written by Gilhus (2016), as auxiliary research resources. In conclusion, we intend to provide a possible research tool which presents five steps for achieving the comprehension of a text, namely: I) Pre-understanding, II) Recognition, III) Overlapping horizons, IV) Text listening and V) Understanding.
