SCHOOL EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS IN TREATING CANCER

Abstract

This article describes the acting of teachers in pediatric oncology of a hospital in SalvadorBA. The pedagogical proposal integrates the hospital classes of the municipal education network, which works in partnership with hospital units in the municipality. Based on observations and on our experiences as teachers, we present the conceptions of pedagogical work, pointing out aspects related to planning, curricular adaptation, pedagogical practices and learning assessment procedures. Some perceptions about work are also presented, which suggest that school attendance in a hospital environment allows the continuity of the link with the school, feeds expectations of return to his original school and his families, inserts the student in an environment of reading, writing, appreciation and execution of artistic activities. It is maintained that the schooling process impacts positively the lives of students who attend the hospital environment, resulting in reintegration processes in their original schools.
