ETHNOMETODOLOGY AS THEORY OF THE SOCIAL IN RESEARCH IN EDUCATION

The research aimed to understand the use of the Ethnomethodology approach as a theory of the social and in researches on Education. We understand that this approach has brought new possibilities to study social phenomena, especially, for research on education, which is important to human social practices. Since this method is a valid research approach for qualitative studies of social organizations, it seems feasible to use it in the context of educational practices based on the key concepts of practice, index, accountability, reflexivity and notion of member. Thus, we used the qualitative approach and the theoretical perspective of Ethnomethodology to understand the contributions of training and practice to the construction of knowledge/practices from the pedagogical coordinators, who work in the municipal public network in Teresina-PI. We brought to discussion the importance of Ethnomethodology in this process, which allowed to immerse ourselves in the everyday actions of the coordinators' management practice; as a member, we could understand the indicative terms and the ethnomethods used in their everyday tasks.
