TEORIA E PRÁTICA NA FORMAÇÃO INICIAL DE PROFESSORES EM PORTUGAL

Resumo

Os primeiros programas de formação inicial de professores surgiram em Portugal na década de 70 e foram ensaiados nas faculdades de ciências. Pretendeu-se então criar uma via de formação alternativa para o exercício da docência, numa altura em que o sistema educativo português se começava a expandir e a procura por pessoal docente com preparação científica e pedagógica tinha de ser assegurada a longo prazo. Contudo, o processo de criação de novos cursos de informação inicial foi relativamente lento, pelo que apenas na década de 80 se verificou a sua extensão a todas as instituições de ensino superior público. A expansão da formação inicial foi marcada desde o seu início por aquilo que alguns autores designam de universitarização dos programas, ou seja, pela reprodução de uma lógica de forte separação disciplinar, reforçada pelos próprios modelos de organização e gestão das instituições formadoras. Sob o ponto de vista da qualidade da formação, este contexto potenciou uma forte separação entre a teoria e a prática e, desse modo, não forneceu aos jovens docentes as ferramentas conceptuais e metodológicas mais adequadas à entrada no mundo das escolas. O problema resulta em grande medida da incapacidade das instituições formadoras para delinearem e aplicarem modelos de formação alternativos, que façam uso de ferramentas que impliquem ativamente os formandos na construção do seu próprio saber. Modelos de natureza reflexiva, que atendam aos saberes experienciais dos sujeitos e lhes permitam encontrar um sentido para a teoria e, dessa forma, propiciar uma mudança efetiva das práticas.
