MEMORIES OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001: BUSH'S SPEECHES AND THE FORESHADOWING OF THE INVASION TO AFGHANISTAN

The historical cut of the article corresponds to the first weeks after the attacks on September 11, 2001 in the United States of America. Before, however, a brief history prior to the fact was made, locating it in its due time and space. Later, it was captured how the American foreign policy, through the official versions, managed the memory of the facts shaping the suspects of the attacks to the Islamist-fundamentalist group, denominated Al Qaeda, directly affecting the international relations. From this perspective, it is perceived that the War on Terror had as one of the immediate objectives to polarize the world. It is believed that this was only possible by spreading the idea of "good" (US and its allies) against "evil" (terrorists and their allies), which served, for example, to justify post-Afghanistan invasions. It tries to prove this hypothesis using the investigation to the pronouncements of the then President George W. Bush, sources virtually made available by the White House. It is also worth noting the information gathered in print media at the time, mainly Jornal do Brasil. Finally, the present article deals with investigating and analyzing this singular period in the history of the present time.
