Abstract

The present article aims to show reflections about The essential meaning of The Santanopolis school to The modernization of Feira de Santana, a City in  Bahia state, in the first half of XX century. This institution influenced the city's culture, thoughts, life style, and it's ways of having fun. This way, it introduces the students as the protagonists of the relation between school and City, regarding the possibilities of having fun, that occurs in a context of multiple material-simbolic relations. This article will also highlight cultural and artistic activities, including sports in which the school union was involved. At that point, these activities went beyond the walls of the institution, and became a way of influence to The city's culture and lifestyle.
