Abstract

The article presents a project about the possibilities of thinking about a moral realism based on contemporary metaphysics. We begin by characterizing the return of philosophical realist considerations in what has been done in contemporary metaphysics, especially after the critique of correlationism (Meillassoux) and anthropocentrism (Harman and Whitehead). Next, we present two challenges for thinking about moral realism, namely, the authenticity of morality and the critique of the metaphysics of presence. We will show how Rousseau is an unusual ally here, and his project of moral autonomy has inspired many thinkers. While we avoid following the paths of the German Idealists, we shall conclude by proposing a path that will pass through Luhmann's Systems Theory as a possible grammar for this future project.
