The curriculum and History textbooks in Israel: an interview with historian Arie Kizel

Abstract

In this interview, Professor Arie Kizel from the University of Haifa in Israel critically examines the history of history education and textbooks in Israel. He also discusses the concept of dialogical philosophy and its connection to Paulo Freire's pedagogy. The interview was recorded in May 2024 during the historian's participation in an international conference on teacher education held at the Catholic University of Brasília (UCB).

Mestrando em Educação pela Universidade Católica de Brasília (UCB), com bolsa da Capes. Mestre em História pela Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Pesquisador do projeto "Cartografia do Protagonismo Estudantil nas Licenciaturas: a pesquisa como princípio educativo da aprendizagem", vinculado à Cátedra UNESCO de Juventude, Educação e Sociedade, no Programa de Pós-Graduação Stricto Sensu em Educação da UCB. 

Cláudia Chesini, UNIVERSIDADE CATÓLICA DE BRASÍLIA

Doutoranda em Educação no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade Católica de Brasília, com bolsa Capes. Possui graduação em Pedagogia pela União das Faculdades de Criciúma (1993) e Mestrado em Engenharia de Produção pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (2004).
