In this article, “Notes for a Handbook of Cinema and Calligraphy,” the author, filmmaker, and translator, presents a reflective presentation on the creative process of the film “Songs In Beijing,” produced between May 2016 and May 2017, and the dissertation “The Production of Documentaries Between Cultures,” which are requirements for obtaining a master’s degree In film directing from the Directing Department of the Beijing Film Academy. Starting from a presentation of the principles of the film’s creative process, the article points out some elements of the film and the research that could be further explored In the future, aiming to continue developing original knowledge about the relationships between cinema, calligraphy, and painting, and about the creative relationships that can be established between Brazil and China.
