For many decades, indigenous peoples were silenced, marginalized and made invisible in the historiographical narratives of Brazil, especially in the 19th century, as well as sociocultural diversity with the systematic denial of identities and rights. Specifically, the inhabitants in the current Northeast Region, in the statements of authorities and invaders in indigenous territories, justifying the official extinction of the villages and the esbulhos of the villages' lands, as occurred in the Aldeamento Brejos dos Padres, in Tacaratu, Pernambuco. To better understand these situations, it is necessary to broaden discussions about the role and place of indigenous peoples in local and regional historical processes.
