Abstract

Mathematical games have a great contribution to the teaching and learning process. These, when used for pedagogical purposes, help teachers, in their teaching, with learning. This article aims to work on a workshop with students in the first year of high school/technical education at a state school in the city of XXXX. This workshop will be carried out by a scholarship holder from the Institutional Program for Teaching Initiation Scholarships Subproject – Pibid Matemática XXXX. The game worked with the students will be Naval Battle in the Cartesian Plane and aims to make students able to identify coordinates in the Cartesian plane, locate points and the distance between two points, and from there, associate the result of any function to the Cartesian plane. , providing students with familiarization with the Cartesian plane and developing skills such as observation, analysis, raising hypotheses, searching for assumptions, reflection, decision making, argumentation and organization, in addition to promoting the facilitation of teaching and learning of this content, in a way more direct and efficient. This game is a resource for teaching and learning mathematics in Flat Analytical Geometry, aiming to verify whether these games bring significant results to the construction of students' knowledge.
