The need to reduce the environmental impacts associated with access to energy and the search for sustainability generate a global dialogue, including environmental, social, political and economic interests. This research is a review, exploratory, bibliographical and documentary study using research sources and case studies that consists of consulting scientific material already published by different authors in different sources that are available to the public. Data collection began after structuring the documentary contribution, considering renewable and non-renewable energies, and their impacts on the environment, health and well-being in current and future life, using research sources such as Google Scholar, Periodical Capes, Science Direct and the Federal University of Pará, targeting keywords such as renewable energy in Brazil, sustainable energy matrix, renewable and non-renewable sources of electricity generation in Brazil, evolution of renewable energies and perspectives, solar energy, Maremotriz, hydroelectric plants, biomass and etc. The period of data collection was during the months of October 2021 to March 2022. The results demonstrate that the Integrated Resources Plan (PIR) used for energy planning allows the reduction of total costs and environmental and social impacts. Furthermore, this article explains that the natural effects of four renewable and non-renewable energy sources - thermoelectric, hydroelectric, wind and solar photovoltaic - can be mitigated through Integrated Resource Planning.
