Rhetoric: an art of speech for polis. Between Plato and Gorgias

Abstract

Despite its fundamental role in Athenian democracy, Rhetoric suffered harsh criticism from Plato, especially in the Gorgias dialogue, where he is denied the status of tékhne. This article seeks to bring Gorgias de Leontinos' thinking from his own writings, so that Plato's criticism can be better evaluated.
