Abstract

This article is a theoretical essay that aims to discuss the concepts of social emancipation, based on the ideas of Boaventura Santos and epistemological disobedience of Walter Mignolo to reflect on the possibilities of an emancipatory formation in education, language and culture of indigenous communities. The central question of this work is: how should an emancipatory indigenous formation be thought of in order to preserve their culture? The present research is classified as qualitative, bibliographical and exploratory, in which were developed and discussed the concepts of social emancipation and epistemological disobedience. The results point to the need for an articulation between the concepts of social emancipation and epistemological disobedience in indigenous school education.
