Abstract
ABSTRACT
Introduction: Diseases in the exposure that occur in large urban centers make bus collectors susceptible to physical, biological, psychological, chemical and environmental risk factors that may be related to the work environment and cause damage to their professional performance and quality of life . Objective: to estimate musculoskeletal symptoms in bus collectors. Methodology: quantitative cross- sectional study conducted with professional bus collectors working in the city of Salvador-Bahia. For data collection, a socio-demographic questionnaire produced by the authors, the Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire (QNSO) and the visual analog scale (EVA) were used. Results: the sample consisted of 56 collectors, most of the participants were men aged between 30 and 40 years, with 5 to 10 years of experience. Musculoskeletal symptoms were reported by 92.9% of the professionals, especially the lumbar region and knees as the most affected, in relation to the intensity it was considered moderate, 51.8% do not perform physical activity, 53.1% relate the symptoms to their work activity and stress were reported by 44.6%, as what most bothered them in the work environment. Conclusion: in view of these results, it was concluded that there is a high frequency of musculoskeletal symptoms in public bus collectors and more robust studies aimed at this category of workers are necessary
