MÉTODO PILATES EN TRASTORNOS MUSCULOESQUELÉTICOS Y PSICOSOMÁTICOS EN PERSONAS CON CÁNCER DE MAMA: REVISIÓN SISTEMÁTICA Y META-ANÁLISIS DE ENSAYOS CLÍNICOS ALEATORIZADOS

Resumen

Introducción: El cáncer de mama es uno de los tipos más comunes y su tratamiento convencional puede ocasionar importantes complicaciones musculoesqueléticas y psicosomáticas. El Método Pilates se muestra como una estrategia capaz de mitigar los síntomas adversos a la salud y producir beneficios sobre estos aspectos en esta población. Objetivo: Revisar sistemáticamente los efectos del método Pilates sobre los trastornos musculoesqueléticos y psicosomáticos en personas con cáncer de mama. Metodología: Revisión sistemática y metaanálisis de ensayos clínicos aleatorizados realizados en las bases de datos Embase, Scopus, LILACS, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Medline, PEDro y SciELO, utilizando los descriptores “Breast Neoplasms” y “Pilates Method”. De los 202 artículos encontrados, 10 se incluyeron en este estudio y seis se analizaron en el metanálisis para los resultados dolor, linfedema de la extremidad afectada, rango de movimiento del hombro afectado, fuerza de agarre, funcionalidad y síntomas de ansiedad. La calidad metodológica de los estudios fue analizada mediante la Escala PEDro y el metanálisis realizado por el software Review Manager versión 5.4 (Colaboración Cochrane). Resultados: El grupo Método Pilates mostró superioridad sobre el grupo control o mínima intervención en la linfedema del miembro afectado, en los movimientos de flexión, rotación externa y amplitud total del hombro afectado y en los síntomas de ansiedad (p≤0,05). Esta diferencia no se observó en el dolor, la fuerza de agarre y la funcionalidad (p>0,05). Conclusión: El Método Pilates tiene mejores efectos sobre la linfedema de la extremidad afectada, el rango de movimiento del hombro afectado y los síntomas de ansiedad en comparación con un control o intervención mínima en personas con cáncer de mama.
