Abstract

The study examines the political oppositions in the African Portuguese-Speaking Countries (PALOP) aiming to comprehend their evolution, challenges, and potential to strengthen democracy. The goal is to map their origins, analyze shifts in their strategies, investigate democratic challenges, and propose recommendations to reinforce both the oppositions and democracy in PALOP’s. This qualitative research employs document analysis and data examination to compare trajectories among the countries, aiming to identify patterns and differences. The hypothesis suggests that, despite challenges, oppositions have influenced democratic promotion. The study is expected to fill gaps in academic research, offering in-depth understanding and recommendations for the political and democratic context of the region.
