Abstract

This article is the result of readings carried out, as a methodological procedure, on the theme of the liberation struggle, peace and security in Southern Africa. The general objective of the study aims to understand the contribution of President Samora Machel to the liberation of this sub-region of the continent, with the centrality focused on the case of Zimbabwe which he assumed as a priority, the achievement of its independence from the British colonial yoke and, against Ian Smith's unilateral independence. For this purpose, the categories of analysis are the leaders of the Frontline States that created the Southern African Development Coordination Conference (SADCC), currently the Southern African Development Community (SADC). In conclusion, it is assumed that internationalism was the central point in Zimbabwe's achievement of freedom.
