Abstract

Since the appearance of rural communities in northern Mozambique , housing has been seen as a form of cultural expression, since there is a direct relationship between individuals and habitat, that is, there is a feeling that the house, in addition to being a place chosen for shelter from the rains, wind, heat, cold, refuge from attacks by other animals, it has a life of its own, provides the realization of various beliefs and spells, shelters the spirits and conserves spaces for worship. That's why the need arose to make this study in order to know to what extent housing is a form of cultural expression in rural areas of Niassa - Mozambique, an area with a lot of cultural diversity and influenced, in most cases by the habits and customs of neighboring countries (Malawi and Tanzania).
