Festival de Teatro Mindelact, um Construtor da Lusofonia

Abstract

This article intends to denominate Mindelo International Theatre Festival Mindelact, that occurs every year in Mindelo, Saint Vincent Island, Cape Verde, as a Lusophone theatre festival, analysing its growth from local festival to national festival, and, ultimately, to international and transnational festival. After a brief reference to the concept of theatre festival, firstly, the history of the Mindelact will be addressed, focusing its structure and its programmatic characteristics. Finally, the article will reflect on the reasons that lead us to denominate the Mindelact Lusophone theatre festival, also exploring some its strengths and fragilities, as well as pointing some urgent measures to be adopted to overcome the difficulties that Mindelact has been facing.
