Abstract

Miriam Makeba was a South African singer who had an artistic career connected with political militancy. Her music reached an expressive audience in her homeland and internationally. To analyze the political present in the singer's career, we will discuss the importance of the years lived in the South African Union to understand the formation of her personal, artistic and political identity.
