With bell hooks, learning for artivisms and living experience

Abstract

In this paper I present an analysis of her texts as a methodology applied to theoretical research in decolonizing thought and deepening as an artist and activist. Decolonization of thought here is then the awareness and attention to lived experience in an anti-racist, anti-sexist, and anti-colonial way. We seize as "researcher and teacher" and as the person (subject) and the political, ethical, and affective stance. After reading bell hooks, I present two practices, one inscribed in my lived experience on the artivism internship to decolonize the Otra Tierra school in Marseille (France) and my first teacher, Rita Inocêncio, my mother, who is accompanied by an account about my family. Both accounts compose the narrative of the learnings of life force, freedom, and hope, words resonated by bell hooks and that are, finally, our leitmotif.
