Authors

Abstract

The article is the result of reflections on teaching practice and on the teaching, research and extension tripod, and on the production of knowledge as a militant practice. This work discusses why the intellectual production of black women is still invisible in higher education institutions, considering the colonial structure that founded universities in Brazil, the ideology of whiteness and the eugenic civilization project, in addition to the debate related to understanding of racism as a structuring element of society. The object of study of this text is the production of knowledge carried out by black intellectuals and their invisibility, considering data that show that their presence in the staff of higher education institutions does not reach 20%. This work is justified by its importance in making people think because more than a decade after the implementation of the reparation and affirmative action policies, there are still few in the spaces of power and prominence in the Universities. It is considered that higher education institutions contributed to the crystallization of the idea of the existence of a racial democracy valued by miscegenation, and of the process of whitening the nation. It is understood that the debate around racial issues in Brazil would be a way to understand the country's own trajectory, but also a milestone in the history of ideas that influenced the University and scientific thought.
