Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the engineering profession, impacting work dynamics, required skills, and decision-making processes. This article explores the main advances in AI, focusing on Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI technologies, such as ChatGPT and DALL-E. Through a literature review, the challenges and opportunities that AI provides to engineers were analyzed, highlighting task automation, process optimization, and the ethical implications involved. It is concluded that, although AI brings significant advances, it is essential that engineers continue to improve their skills and adopt an ethical and responsible approach to the implementation of these technologies. The integration of AI into the daily routine of engineering offers not only innovative solutions, but also imposes the need for professionals to continuously adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.
