INDICADORES DE DESEMPENHO AMBIENTAL NA INDÚSTRIA 4.0: ANÁLISE COMPARATIVA EM DUAS UNIDADES DE UM FABRICANTE DE PNEUS

Abstract

With smarter processes in today's industries, several changes occur as products are produced, thus causing impacts in various market sectors. Technology is the key to this, mainly through the digitization of processes. Large companies will benefit from the technological facilities of the fourth industrial revolution, also called 4.0 industry, but it is necessary to think about how the 4.0 Industry can be directed towards the generation of a more developed and sustainable society. This article has the general objective of comparing the environmental performance indicators related to the Environmental Management System based on ISO 14001 between two units of the same tire manufacturer, located in different countries and with a different profile regarding the 4.0 Industry. This comparative analysis took place through audits of the management system, which consist of technically analyzing the organization and its processes according to various aspects and requirements. In view of the results obtained for the indicators of energy consumption, water consumption and waste recovery index, it was possible to observe that there is a great difference between the two units, despite being from the same manufacturer. One of the units still has fragile results, and this can easily be associated with the fact that it is not undergoing the transformation process into Industry 4.0. Therefore, it can be concluded that the so-called fourth industrial revolution can directly influence the appreciation of the culture of sustainability and environmental management, since more technological processes tend to be more sustainable, cleaner, and even more intelligent.
