PREVALÊNCIA DE LESÕES MUSCULOESQUELÉTICAS DO JOELHO EM PRATICANTES DE JIU-JITSU DA CIDADE DE SALVADOR-BA
Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Jiu-Jitsu is based on the precepts of oriental philosophy where there is a predominance of technique over the use of brute force, the practice has positive effects on quality of life when promoting the health of the individual, however due to body-to-body contact body and the use of falls, levers, twists, hyperextension keys and strangulation can cause injuries in athletes and therefore the OBJECTIVE is to identify the prevalence of knee injury in individuals practicing jiu-jitsu. METHODOLOGY: this is a descriptive observational, cross-sectional study with non-probabilistic sampling, carried out using an electronic structured questionnaire. RESULTS: Of the sample (n =35), 31(88.57%) are male with an average age of 32 years, of these 31(88%) practiced Jiu-jitsu for more than 2 years, 20 (57%) train Three times a week, 16 (46%) train for 1.5 hours a day, the region with the highest number of injuries was the knee with 14(18%) followed by the shoulder with 12(15%). CONCLUSION: the present study shows that the excessive demand of the knee joint due to excessive training both in terms of duration and the amount of training associated with participation in championships, and complementary activities such as weight training can be the main causal factors of knee injuries.
