Abstract

In view of the influence that myths exert in contemporary times, the present work aims to analyze four poems by the American author Louise Glück (2021) that resumes the myth of Persephone, based on the idea contained in Hall (2016) about identity and representation, also with Freud’s (2012) considerations about the incest between uncle and niece. To anchor the arguments, a brief resumption of the narrative of Koré was necessary to elucidate the reflection contained here. It became possible to conclude that Glück’s lyricism traces an identity seen in the contemporary world, when women see themselves in the same situation as the mythological character.
