Promotion of playing the hospitalized child: experience report of nursing academics

Abstract

Hospitalization generates stress, fear and anxiety especially in children as they are still in the process of adapting to the social environment. The implementation of games in the hospital appears as a way to alleviate the negative symptoms generated by stress, but also to improve the hospital stay. Therefore, the objective of this work is to report the experience of nursing students during the interventions of an extension project while playing with hospitalized children. During the period of experience in the interventions, it was possible to observe that although the games seemed simple, they were fundamental for the selected children as they stimulated the imagination and promoted a break in the hospital routine.
