First aid workshop for primary health care: report of an extensionist action

Abstract

The nurse has an important role as a social educator, through health education, enabling the population to act quickly and efficiently in the face of emergencies. The objective of the study is to describe the experience of carrying out an educational workshop on first aid for professionals in Primary Health Care. This is an experience report of the experience of the binders of the Academic League of Trauma and Emergency of the University of the State of Bahia. A face-to-face meeting was held on September 21, 2022 for an educational workshop, through a theoretical-practical approach, aimed at 40 Primary Care workers with themes chosen according to the needs of the target audience. It is concluded that this workshop provided training for primary care workers focused on issues of high incidence in the population, which can contribute to improving the care provided and, consequently, improving the outcome/prognosis in emergency situations.
