César Zama Municipal Library: education and cultural production space in the municipality of Caetité

The present text presents the experience report of the internship in non-formal spaces, of the curricular component Research and Internship in the Pedagogy course of the University of the State of Bahia, Campus XII. The study aimed to analyze the cultural production, as well as understand how the history of the Municipal Public Library César Zama was woven, presenting the importance, defense and permanence of this space, as a place of culture and education in a popular neighborhood in the city of Caetité-Ba. The methodology was of a qualitative approach and for the generation of data a documental analysis was carried out, as well as structured and semi-structured interviews with those responsible for the institution and with the residents of the surrounding community. An intervention work was also developed in the library that sought to give visibility, value and defend the importance of this space for the community. At the end of the research, it was evident the importance of this space for the municipality and how the permanence, care and protection of a public library in a popular neighborhood becomes a political act of defense and struggle for access to education and culture for all.
