Higher education access and stay of mother, female householder, woman worker and wife: what do research reveal?

Abstract

The reflection presented here results from a Scientific Initiation research that sought to analyze, based on the specificities of the female condition, how the permanence and participation of women in Higher Education happens. This text exposes the findings regarding academic productions about the access and permanence of women, mothers, housewives, female workers and spouses in Higher Education, from 2007 to 2017. Its purpose was to establish points in common with the other researches carried out in this area. To this end, we opted for scientific investigations that seek to understand how is the current situation of academic women included in certain conditions at the university, in order to understand the historical trajectory of female schooling in Brazil. Through bibliographic mapping it was possible to identify and understand how the authors talked about these themes and how their research was developed. The databases chosen for the survey were the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Education (ANPED), the Bank of Theses and Dissertations of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the Virtual Library of the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT) and the Bahia State University (UNEB) Physical Library - Campus XII.
