For a Derridian reading of the poem “Cemitério Marinho” by Edimilson Pereira

Abstract

In this work, we propose a reading of the first scene of the poem “Cemitério Marinho”, by Edimilson de Almeida Pereira (2019). This reading was based on the ideas of specters contained in the book Specters of Marx: The State of Debt, the Work of Mourning and the New International (DERRIDA, 1994). Similar to the specters of communism, the specters of the colonial process are present and absent in the context from here. They are, in other words, the specters of death or specters of coloniality (RODRIGUES; HADDOCK-LOBO; MORAES, 2020). The poem, in this context, makes sense of the diasporic process. On this theme, the considerations of Simas and Rufina (2019) were the theoretical basis. As Edimilson is considered a contemporary poet, the theoretical fulcrum comes from Siscar (2010) who, in a movement similar to that of the Algerian philosopher, talks about the ghosts that haunt us from time to time.
