The impact of extracurricular activities on student development

Abstract

The university is an institutional model that promotes diverse experiences for students, among them, the extracurricular activities, which are responsible for about 70% (seventy percent) of formation. This study was prepared to raise the main interests and perceptions of undergraduate students by extracurricular experiences, analysing the importance of these activities in their development. For that realization, eight students from the Psychology and Pedagogy courses were interviewed, following a qualitative approach. With that, it was possible to build new perceptions about student interests in extracurricular activities, how they are associated to the learning of new content and an ease in understanding them. Other factors are also related, like the interaction between peers, the development of critical thinking and personal and professional formation, these activities being relevant to the formation of students.
