This work, which is the result of experiences as a Pibidiana in the Covid-19 pandemic period, focuses on analyzing the place of reading in remote teaching, in a class of the 5th year of Elementary School, from a public school in the Municipality of Guanambi-Bahia. The study was carried out in the synchronous and asynchronous model through collaborative observation in online classes, considering the act of a teacher to carefully encourage children to build the habit of reading as a daily exercise present in any and all contexts. The habit of reading leaves something to be desired as research points out consequences caused by the lack of reading which reflects on the high rate of individuals considered illiterate in Brazil, that is to say that social exclusion never ceased to exist in country.
