University extension: a report on challenges and contributions

Abstract

Extension practices have been part of higher education for some years, promoting transformative experiences for the lives of extension participants and the community involved. In view of the above, this study aimed to report the main difficulties encountered in the development of the extension project entitled "Environmental education in basic education: analysis of the curriculum and educational practices in school systems in Caetité-BA", in addition to emphasizing its importance for the community and how crucial scientific dissemination is for the development of collaborative and participatory projects. The extensionist practice provided us with greater awareness that professional training extends to human training and commitment to the community in which we are inserted.
