Unveiling the riches and difficulties faced by the public library of Guanambi-Ba

Abstract

The present text presents the results of the observation and intervention proposal carried out in Biblioteca Pública Municipal Nice Amaral, in Guanambi-Ba in the year 2021. The proposal arose from the componente of Pesquisa e Estágio em Espaços Não Formais. Due to the pandemic context, a profile (Instagram) was created with information, curiosities, reading tips, questions and polls focused on the library, with the purpose of knowing what the public opinion is about the space and their relationship with reading. Together with the data obtained from the field research and bibliographic analysis, we sought to get to know the space, as well as to identify how the process of cultural production and learning development takes place in this institution. From the analysis, we can see conflicts that occur in a public and social space, and how much the community can make a difference by assuming its responsibility and exercising its role as a citizen regarding the political aspects and the cultural production developed in these spaces.
