Self-care of amateur futsal athletes: report of a workshop

Abstract

This paper refers to an experience report of a workshop on self-care with amateur soccer athletes from Guanambi-BA, linked to the extension project “Women in focus: sport, education and health care” at the State University of Bahia. The workshop allowed the identification of self-care conditions of these athletes and challenges to implement them. The athletes considered that the social construction of the female caregiver, with an always attentive look at the people around her, in addition to the training and work routine as impediments to carrying out satisfactory self-care actions for herself. We concluded that the workshop accomplished the objective of promoting self-care. The athletes evaluated positively and expressed satisfaction with their participation. We also emphasize that the workshop contributed to our training as future professionals, revealing itself as a fruitful space for exchanges and mutual growth.
