Memories of a pioneer in physical education: teaching actions of professor José Teixeira Freire in Guanambi – Bahia

Abstract

This work presents the contributions of Professor José Teixeira Freire to the development of Physical Education in the city of Guanambi – Bahia. Highlights – the conflicts and tensions loaded in his pedagogical practice. It takes as a starting point the assumptions of Oral History, as it presents possibilities for understanding the historical passages of his actions as a teacher. Thus, it is identified in the legacy of José Teixeira moments that mark the history of Physical Education in the city.
