Description:
The proposal consists of a dossier that addresses the theoretical methodological foundations for measuring the conditions of human well-being, identifying the opportunities and capacities that people have, or could have, through the implementation of adequate public policies, to ensure a full life; but, always taking into account the value that individuals have of their own lives. This dossier proposes the revision of the definition of human well-being based on the approaches of Amatya Sen and Martha Nussbaun; assuming it as the freedom that a person has to carry out a certain kind of life or function in a certain way, considering their specific needs and capacities. From this perspective, we hope to share studies that refer to the measurement of human well-being within a regional context with its particular cultural, economic, and social characteristics.
